Study Validates Atzmi’s Work

In a study published this month in the Journal of Education, Health, and Sport entitled “The Influence of Social Media on Developing Body Image Dissatisfaction and Eating Disorders” it was found that in order to reduce body image issues as well as the risk of eating disorders in adolescents, focusing on helping our children acknowledge their value and self-worth, learn their strengths and qualities, and help them develop healthy relationships are all needed for prevention. These are all things we have always known and incorporated into our “My Best Self” Project curriculum at Atzmi – but it was still so nice to have another confirmation of the importance and need for what we are working to do. Eating disorders are such devastating and deadly illnesses and we need to use any and all prevention interventions to ward them off.
